The Hidden Cost Behind A Football Transfer
A club agrees a €12m transfer fee, payable in three €4m instalments over 24 months. At the point the deal is signed, the club budgets at £1 = €1.1700.
If GBP/EUR falls by 3% to 1.1349 before any instalment is paid, and remains at that rate, the sterling cost rises from approximately £10.26m to £10.57m. That is an unbudgeted cost of around £317k.
Orbis can help map the payment schedule, establish the club’s currency exposure and put appropriate financial infrastructure in place to create greater cost certainty around each instalment.

Funding The Timing, Not Just The Transfer
A club has an £8m transfer payment due now, while a contracted £10m commercial or broadcasting receipt is expected in 120 days.
The issue is a timing gap, not necessarily a lack of underlying value. Without the right structure, the club may need to disrupt operating cash flow or delay other planned activity.
Orbis can map the payment timetable, cash flow gap and supporting receivables or assets, then introduce the club to appropriate specialist funding providers.
